In this model, both the original and the translation are scientifically analyzed and compared with specific steps and clear linguistic-based criteria. In this paper, first, I will briefly introduce House’s TQA model; second, I will apply House’s model to assessing the translation “Đêm nóng nhất thế kỷ”; third, I will draw out some conclusions and suggest some implications for research into quality assessment of English-Vietnamese translations.Mô hình đánh giá dịch thuật theo dụng học chức năng của House (1977, 1997) được nhìn nhận chung là mô hình có nhiều hứa hẹn phục vụ mục đích nghiên cứu. Trong mô hình này, cả bản gốc và bản dịch được phân tích so sánh một cách khoa học dựa trên các bước cụ thể với tiêu chí ngôn ngữ rõ ràng. Trong phần đầu của bài báo, tôi sẽ giới thiệu ngắn gọn về mô hình của House. Trong phần hai, tôi sẽ áp dụng mô hình của House để đánh giá bản dịch truyện ngắn “Đêm nóng nhất thế kỷ”.
