The Ekeland variational principle (for short, EVP) is the most popular variational principle and one of the most important results in optimization and nonlinear and variational analysis over the past half-century. Actually, EVP formulated in finitedimensional spaces is one of the first and most powerful results of modern variational analysis. A typical variational principle says that, on a complete (generalized) metric space X, a lower semicontinuous and bounded from below function ’ has a perturbation function g such that ’ + g attains a unique (strict) minimizer. Different variational principles involve different types of g.
