Tóm tắt: | The study invests in Contrastive Analysis: English, Vietnamese Greetings.The main aims of the research are to discuss contrastive analysis of English and Vietnamese Greetings, to provide as much information as possible on the most common greetings, frequencies of greetings in use, factors affecting greeting in English and Vietnamese to help learners of English as a foreign language to achieve effective communication, and to find out factors affecting greetings which cause misunderstandings and culture shocks in English and Vietnamese. Methods were used in the study are survey questionnaires, statistic, description, and analysis of the collected and selected data, personal observation and experience, consultation with supervisors, discussion with Vietnamese and foreign teachers.The results of the study is find out that different coutries have different ways of greetings in particular situations and certain similarities in the way Vietnamese and English native speakers do greetings. Besides, the study also points out fators affecting ways of greetings. This study is also a valuable references for further reasearches about culture like meanings of nonverbal signals in English and Vietnamese. |
